NABARD gave crop loans to more than 71 lakh farmers of Madhya Pradesh

National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has disbursed crop loans worth Rs 55,759 crore to more than 71 lakh farmers of Madhya Pradesh in the last few years. Along with this, loans worth Rs 24,526 crore have also been given to the people in the state for animal husbandry, dairy, fisheries, food processing and other allied sectors. In a press release issued by NABARD, it was informed that the President of NABARD, Dr G R Chintala, who was on a six-day visit to Madhya Pradesh, met Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan here on Thursday and briefed him about the activities of the bank. The Chairman of NABARD informed that the bank has disbursed Rs 55,759 crore for crop loans to more than 71 lakh farmers in Madhya Pradesh in the last few years. Apart from this, the bank has provided long term refinance assistance of Rs 24,526 crore for animal husbandry, dairy, fisheries, warehousing, warehousing, food processing and other allied activities. Dr. Chintala said that roads and electricity play an important role in the all-round development of any state. NABARD has given its funding and support in the construction of 17,349 km of rural roads, 46,352 meter bridge and 158.84 MW power plant etc. in the state. He said that NABARD has cooperated with the state government for creation of irrigation infrastructure. This has resulted in creation of irrigation potential of 34,09,151 hectares, benefiting about 15141 villages. The Chairman said that about 30 lakh metric tonnes of warehousing capacity has been created by NABARD in the state. Apart from this, 74.68 lakh MT capacity has been created through government sponsored scheme, which is subsidized through NABARD. Referring to the food processing infrastructure, Dr. Chintala said that Kinabard has funded the Avanti Mega Food Park and Nimar Agroprocessing Cluster in the state. With this, not only farmers are getting better prices for their primary agricultural products, but also direct and indirect employment has been created for more than ten thousand people.
