Share market opens with gain

Domestic stock markets opened with gains today on the expectation of a rapid recovery in the global economy. BSE’s 30-share sensitive index Sensex opened with a strength of 143.45 points at 52,995.72 points and climbed up to 53,024.70 points in a short time. On Monday, it had closed at 52,852.98 points. The Sensex was up 87.90 points, or 0.17 per cent, at 52,940.17.

Companies such as HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Tata Steel and State Bank of India were buying while Axis Bank, HDFC and Infosys dominated the selling.

The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange rose 26.05 points to open at 15,860.50 and strengthened up to 15,881.55 points. It had closed at 15,824.45 points on the previous trading day. At the time of writing the news, Nifty was up 33.50 points, or 0.21 per cent, at 15,857.95.

The effect of Monday’s rally in the US stock markets was also visible on the domestic stock markets today.
