NTPC invites tender for setting up India’s first Green Hydrogen Fueling Station at Leh
National Thermal Power Corporation Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC, has invited a domestic tender for setting up India’s first Green Hydrogen Fueling Station at Leh, Ladakh. The sale of bidding documents will start from 31 July 2021.
This tender has been floated by NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited (NVVN) after the recently floated tender for procurement of Fuel Cell Buses for Ladakh. NTPC REL and NVVN will jointly implement the Green Mobility Project in the Union Territory of Ladakh. A dedicated 1.25 MW Solar Plant is also being set up by NTPC REL at Leh to make Hydrogen Fueling Station completely green. The contract for the solar plant is expected to be awarded within a month.
NTPC REL has earlier signed a historic MoU with the Union Territory of Ladakh for the development of Green Hydrogen Technology in the high altitude region. The successful completion of this project will usher in a new era of emission free transport in and around Leh and India will be among the few countries to play a leading role in this prestigious sector.
This project will be a decisive step towards building a clean and green eco-system in the region. The successful execution of the project will also reduce the transportation problems of the Union Territory of Ladakh and will prove to be a major step in promoting tourism in the region.
