Dhanbad judge’s death case reaches Supreme Court

Bar Association demands CBI inquiry

The echo of the alleged murder case of Dhanbad district court judge Ashtam Uttam Anand has reached the Supreme Court. On Thursday, senior advocate and former Additional Solicitor General Vikas Singh took up the matter before the Supreme Court. On behalf of the Supreme Court Bar Association, Singh appealed to the Supreme Court to take suo motu cognizance of the matter and hear it. Vikas Singh has also demanded the Supreme Court to conduct a CBI inquiry into the matter.

On Wednesday morning, Judge Uttam Anand (50 years) was hit by an auto when he was returning from a morning walk. The judges were returning to their quarters located next to the Hirapur Electricity Office after a walk from the Golf Ground. The accident happened in front of Ganga Medical, a few steps away from Randhir Verma Chowk. The entire incident has been captured in CCTV. After seeing the footage, the police is questioning the motive of the auto driver. On suspicion arose, a medical board was formed hurriedly on the orders of the DC for the post-mortem of the judge. The team of doctors conducted the post-mortem of the judge’s body in the evening. It is being told that due to a serious head injury, he had bleeding from the ear. Death is being said of brain hemorrhage.

Government ordered inquiry

The Jharkhand government has ordered an inquiry into the death of Judge Uttam Anand. State Health Minister and Dhanbad’s in-charge minister Banna Gupta has tweeted to DC Sandeep Kumar and SSP Sanjeev Kumar to form a high-level committee to investigate the matter and submit a report in a week. He said that the circumstances of Uttam Anand’s death are suspicious. Social organizations and judicial bodies have raised questions on the death, which needs to be investigated. Justice Uttam Anand’s wife Kriti Sinha has filed an FIR in Dhanbad police station and has accused unknown person of murder. In the FIR lodged, Kriti Sinha alleged that this case is not of an accident. It is clear from the video footage that the unidentified man sitting in the middle seat of the unknown auto has deliberately hit her husband on the head with the help of the auto driver. Due to which he died.
