Two bills were passed in the Lok Sabha on Thursday amid heavy uproar and sloganeering by the opposition. Due to the uproar, there was no discussion on the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India Amendment Bill and the Inland Vessel Bill. Following the passage of both the bills, the House was adjourned for the day. Earlier, the proceedings of the House were adjourned thrice due to the uproar.
Speaker Om Birla on Wednesday expressed anguish over the members of the opposition throwing papers on the podium when the proceedings of the House began. He said that such conduct is unacceptable in the biggest panchayat of the country. Due to this conduct of the opposition members, the dignity of the house has been hurt. This led to a heated argument between Congress Parliamentary Party leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi.
Adhir said that the present Lok Sabha has set an example in the matter of proceedings. Obviously this would not have been possible without the cooperation of the opposition. Adhir said that the present situation has been established due to the stubborn attitude of the government. The government does not want to listen to the opposition. Joshi then asked Adhir to apologize for Wednesday’s incident. Then the commotion started in the house. Due to this the proceedings of the House were adjourned for half an hour.
Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India Amendment BillIntroducing the bill, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia called it a revolutionary step. He said that this would create a network of air travel infrastructure across the country. Scindia said that through this there is a provision to modify the definition of the airport. This will encourage the development of smaller airports. In airports which are currently unlikely to invite reasonable competitive bids due to loss with low traffic potential, development of more airports through public-private partnerships will expand air connectivity to remote and remote areas.
Inland Vessel Bill
In this regard, Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that the Indian Ships Act, enacted in the year 2017, needs a comprehensive improvement in the present circumstances. There is an intention to make necessary reforms through this bill. He said that this bill has been brought for the purpose of safety, registration and smooth operation of ships. This will also help in pollution control. The system of registration of ships will be in one place. No approval of different states will have to be taken for the operation of ships. All such processes have been centralised.

The tug of war between the government and the opposition is going on in the matter of paper tearing incident on Wednesday. On Wednesday, the government had planned to bring a proposal for the suspension of ten Congress-TMC MPs associated with it. However, in the meeting held with the speaker on Thursday, the opposition proposed to express regret in this matter. After this, it was agreed not to bring the proposal of suspension of the MPs. However, after speaking on behalf of the speaker when the proceedings began, Congress Parliamentary Party leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury started targeting the government. Adhir blamed the government’s attitude for the uproar. Then the proceedings of the house had to be adjourned due to a heated argument between the government and the opposition.
