Two-day Yatra

According to the calculation of planets and constellations, this year a two-day yatra has been organized, while the last time a two-day yatra was organized was in 1971. Breaking away from tradition, some rituals related to the festival related to the three sibling deities Lord Jagannath, Goddess Subhadra Balabhadra will also be organized on a single day today.

Chariots were parked in front of Singhdwar

Chariots have been parked in front of Singhdwar. From where they will be taken to the Gundicha temple. The chariots will stay there for a week. This year the Rath Yatra and related rituals like Navayauvana Darshan and Netra Utsav will be held on the same day, July 7. According to mythology, the deities become unwell due to excessive bathing on Snan Purnima and hence remain indoors. Before Navayauvana Darshan, the priests perform a special ritual called Netra Utsav, in which the pupils of the eyes of the deities are painted afresh.
