UAE’s Sharjah Stadium ready for IPL
A day after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the rescheduled IPL schedule, the Sharjah Cricket Stadium authorities have confirmed that the stadium is ready to play safely.
It is noteworthy that BCCI has allotted 10 matches out of the remaining 31 IPL matches to Sharjah. Sharjah Cricket Stadium’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Khalaf Bukhatir said in a statement, “We are ready and eagerly looking forward to hosting the IPL in a safe environment.” Our facilities are being upgraded and our pitches, as shown in the past, are ideal for an event like the IPL. It is our privilege to host this world class tournament once again.
It is noteworthy that during IPL 2020, Sharjah Stadium witnessed the highest run chase in the history of IPL when Rajasthan Royals scored 223 runs against Punjab Kings. The first match on the ground this year will be between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore on 24 September. Apart from this, the ground will also host two play-off matches. Here on October 11, there will be a qualifier 2 and on October 13, the Eliminator match will be held.
