Farmer’s daughter created history in defeating Australia
Gurjit Kaur, the star player of the Indian women’s hockey team, has created a new history in the Tokyo Olympics. Gurjeet Kaur scored a goal as India women’s hockey team stunned Australia 1-0 at the Tokyo Olympics and entered the semi-finals for the first time.
A student of the famous Lyallpur Khalsa College for Women in Jalandhar, and a 25-year-old resident of Miadi Kalan village in Amritsar, the family had nothing to do with hockey. Gurjit Kaur is originally from Amritsar, but she has a special connection with the district Jalandhar, which is considered the Mecca of sports. She has been a student of the famous Lyallpur Khalsa College for Women, Jalandhar. Gurjit Kaur had enrolled in BA Arts in this college and has been playing in the college’s academy for about 5 years. For her father, Satnam Singh, her daughter’s education was the first. Gurjit and his sister Pradeep took their early education from a private school near the village. After this she went to study in a boarding school in Kairon village of Tarn Taran. This is where his fondness for hockey began. She was impressed to see the girls playing hockey and decided to try her hand at it.
Both the sisters soon mastered the sport and also got scholarships. This got him free schooling and boarding. After this Gurjit Kaur graduated from Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar. Gurjeet had enrolled in BA Arts in this college and she has been playing in the college’s academy for about 5 years.
College Principal Dr. Navjot told that the college is feeling very proud today that her student has brought laurels to the country in the Olympics. Now we pray to Waheguru that the Indian women’s hockey team wins gold medals for the country. What has been done by the women hockey players has created an atmosphere of celebration in the entire college. College girls are also feeling very proud.
Dr. Navjot said that Gurjit Kaur always had a passion for practice and never left the field after taking leave from it. Always giving priority to sports practice. As a result of this, he has created a shocking history for everyone in the Tokyo Olympics today. The hockey coach of the college Kulbir Singh Saini said that it is a matter of great honor that Gurjit Kaur, who took coaching from him, has brought laurels to the country in the Olympics today. Gurjit Kaur has played about 53 international matches so far. He is posted as Senior Clerk in North Central Railway (NCR) Prayagraj.
