Uttarakhand / Pauri : Congressmen raised slogans against the UP government and made arrests

Expressing anger over the death of farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh, the Congress on Monday staged a vigorous demonstration at the Pauri headquarters and burnt an effigy of the Prime Minister while taking out a rally. During this, the Congressmen raised slogans against the Central and Uttar Pradesh government and also made arrests. Congress officials and workers gathered at Pauri Agency Chowk. Raising slogans from here, a rally was taken out on Mall Road till the SSP office and also sat on a dharna here. The Congressmen also burnt the effigy of the Prime Minister after a mild scuffle with the police. During this, Congress raised slogans against the BJP and the Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh and demanded action against those accused of killing farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri. Party’s district president Pauri Kameshwar Rana and state vice-president Keshar Singh Negi said that the central government is not in the interest of farmers. After the protest, the Congressmen gave their arrests. The police arrested 17 Congressmen and later released them on a personal bond from the police line. Party’s District General Secretary Veer Pratap, Block Chief Pauri Deepak Cookshal, District President NSUI Gaurav Sagar, Vinod Negi, Student Union Treasurer Sachin Rawat, Mohit Singh, Naval Kishore, Ashish Negi, Upendra Rawat, Kailash Bashti, Harish Chandra Arya, Bharat Singh, Vinod Negi, Tameshwar Arya, Bhaskar Bahuguna, Vinod Danosi, Balveer Rana, Pankaj, Virendra Singh Rawat etc. were present.
