Sensex closed 677 points lower at 59,307, Nifty closed at 17,671, market cap reduced by 17 lakh crores in 8 days

There was a huge fall in the Indian stock market for the second consecutive day today. After falling 800 points in the morning, the BSE Sensex closed 677.70 points (1.13%) down at 59,306.93 in the evening. Similarly, Nifty fell 185.60 (1.04%) to end at 17,671 points. BSE’s large cap closed down 0.88% while mid cap closed with gains. Small Cap closed with a fall.
At the close of the market, 9 shares of the Sensex closed with gains, while 21 shares closed with a fall. Shares of Reliance Industries closed at Rs 2,538, down 2.38%. Its market cap became Rs 16.09 lakh crore. Similarly, Kotak Mahindra Bank, IndusInd Bank, Larsen & Toubro, Axis Bank and Infosys closed with a decline of 2%. Shares of IRCTC closed at Rs 845.65, down 7.85%.
Maruti, Bajaj Auto, Nestle, SBI, Canara Bank, UltraTech and Dr Reddy’s shares were among the gainers. A total of 3,399 shares were traded on the BSE. In this, 1,727 shares closed with gains and 1,819 shares declined. The total market cap stood at Rs 259.43 lakh crore.
The market cap had dropped by Rs 2 lakh crore in the very first 5 minutes this morning. Banking and financial stocks contributed to the decline in the market. However, the shares of the public sector bank remained up.
The market opened with a fall of 150 points
This morning the BSE Sensex fell by nearly 150 points to open at 59,857. Yesterday it closed at 59,984 points. Today, the market fell further by 800 points (0.9%) on opening with a fall, due to which the BSE Sensex reached 59,104. The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange was trading at 17,628, down 228 points.
Market cap is Rs 259 lakh crore
The market cap was Rs 261 lakh crore yesterday, which has come down by Rs 2 lakh crore to Rs 259 lakh crore today. Yesterday the market cap had declined by Rs 4.80 lakh crore. The market cap has fallen by Rs 17 lakh crore in the last 8 days. That is, there has been a decline of 2 lakh crores every day.
There was a huge drop in the market yesterday
Earlier yesterday, the monthly and weekly expiry was also of the market. The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex closed down 1,158 points (1.89%) at 59,984 points yesterday. This was the lowest level of the Sensex in the last 20 days. On October 8, it touched the level of 60 thousand. Similarly, the Nifty fell by about 353 points (1.94%). It closed at 17,857 points. The index of Nifty Bank and Nifty Financial Services had broken close to 2%.
