Congress candidate Suryakant Dhasmana said that there is a lot of resentment among the people against the misrule of the BJP in the state. The promises made during the elections in 2017 have not been fulfilled by the BJP government. Dhasmana said that inflation has broken the back of the people during the BJP rule. Pulses, oilseeds and vegetables have become far away from the reach of common man. Rising prices of LPG have done the right thing.

Dhasmana said that the double engine BJP government, which declared a crusade against corruption, did not allow such an important bill like Lokayukta to become a law even till the last session of its rule. For the whole 5 years, the BJP government was deeply immersed in corruption. He said that the limit was reached when the Maha Kumbh, the festival of Sanatan Dharma, was also defamed by doing RTPCR scam in Haridwar. Dhasmana said that for many years only one BJP leader represented the Cantt area, but the issue of slums, the issue of floods in Chhoti Bindal and upgradation of the hospital of Premnagar remained in the grip.

He said that this time the residents of Cantt area have made up their mind for change. During the public meeting, the state agitating women gave their blessings to Dhasmana and said that the mother power of Cantt is now with you and we have full support. State agitating women included Parvati Doval, Lakshmi Saklani, Pitambari Rana Koti, Indu Kandwal, Priya Thakur etc. During this, a large number of people expressed their support along with former General Secretary of Roadways Employees Council Ramprasad Raturi and President of ONGC Contract Employees Union Sandeep Ramola, Nitin Doval, Radha Gupta, Shivam Dhyani, Usman, Ajay Kshetri etc.
