Dharampur assembly seat has the highest number of voters from the hilly region. After this 40 thousand voters are Muslim here. This is the reason that in the last municipal elections, Dinesh Agarwal got maximum votes under this assembly seat. Sunil Uniyal Gama, who contested the election of Mayor from this assembly seat, got very few votes. Not only this, in the year 2009, when Harish Rawat contested from Haridwar Lok Sabha seat, he got maximum votes from Dharampur assembly seat itself. In such a situation, both Congress and BJP will have to work hard on this seat.
Workers have become angry many times
Dharampur Vidhan Sabha is also known as Hot Sheet. According to the pre-poll survey conducted by BJP, this assembly was considered as C grade. Many office-bearers were angry with Chamoli and even tendered their resignation from BJP. At the same time, Vinod Chamoli saying in front of some people of the assembly that – your ticket has gone to hell, I don’t contest the election, may also cost him dearly.
