24.25 thousand voted through postal ballot in Uttarakhand

Even though voting for the assembly elections in Uttarakhand is to be held on February 14, but so far 24.25 thousand voters have exercised their votes. This has happened this time due to the facility of voting through postal ballot paper by the commission to voters above 80 years of age, voters with disabilities and personnel engaged in election duty. So far, 11129 personnel engaged in election duty and 13130 ​​out of 80 years of age and disabled voters have availed this facility. This time 1557 centenary voters (voters above 100 years of age) will also exercise their vote in the election.

State’s Chief Electoral Officer Sowjanya told reporters on Tuesday that the final list of voters for the polling to be held on February 14 in the state has been released. This includes 8172173 general and 94771 service voters. The commission has finalized the preparations for the polls. 11697 polling places have been set up in 8624 polling stations for voting. These also include 24 migrated (moved from high altitude sites to lower areas) polling stations. These include one in Uttarkashi, nine in Chamoli and 14 in Pithoragarh.

This time 156 model booths have also been made. In these, all facilities will be made available as per the guidelines given by the commission. Of these, maximum 24 model booths are in Haridwar, 23 in Dehradun, 20 in Udham Singh Nagar and 17 in Nainital. The commission has also decided to make 101 Sakhi polling booths. From the polling officer to the assistant polling officer, all women will live here. Along with this, six Divyang booths have also been made. These booths will be operated by handicapped personnel only.

1556 centenary voters in the state

This time 1556 centenary voters will exercise their vote in the state. Maximum 70 centenary voters are in Gadarpur of Udham Singh Nagar and 50 voters are in Bajpur seat of Udham Singh Nagar. The least two centenarian voters are in Purola assembly of Uttarkashi district.
