Gujrat : 38 convicts sentenced to death in 2008 Ahmedabad bomb blast case, 11 to life imprisonment

The Special Court has sentenced 38 terrorists to death in the 2008 serial blasts case in Ahmedabad. While 11 convicts have been sentenced to life imprisonment. For the first time in history, so many people have been hanged together. The terrorists who carried out the blasts are very clever. On 22 July 2008, Azamgarh module chief Atif Amin, Mohammad Sajid alias Pankaj and Mohammad Saif went to Ahmedabad from Delhi. Out of this, Atif Amin and Mohammad Sajid were later killed in the Batla House encounter. After this, on 25 July 2008, Mohammad Shakeel , Zia ur Rehman, Zeeshan Ahmed, Salman, Arif, Saifur Rahman, Ariz Khan, Mirza Shadab Baig and Mohammad Khalid reached Ahmedabad. They planted a bomb in Ahmedabad on 26 July 2008 and returned to Delhi on the same day by evening train.

Hi-tech email sent

After the blast in Ahmedabad, a team of police had arrived for investigation. The email related to the Gujarat blasts was sent from Mumbai through advanced Wi-Fi technology. The user of the Wi-Fi Internet connection could not be traced afterwards. After the blast, first of all, 3 mobile numbers came under suspicion in the investigation of the police. These numbers were very active in Ahmedabad and Surat till July 14 and suddenly stopped on the day of the blast.

Call made from Jamia Nagar of Delhi

The police got information about another number. This number was active in Delhi on 17th July and suddenly became active in Ahmedabad on 24th July. This number was called from 5 different mobiles and landlines. All 5 numbers were from Jamia Nagar area of Delhi. But the callers could not be traced. Apart from this, some numbers were also traced in Mumbai and Gujarat of Maharashtra. On intercepting the numbers, it was found that huge amount is being sent to the people talking on the phone through hawala. Talks were held between them regarding auto parking, suitcases and crockery. Based on this, the police investigated and arrested all the accused one by one.

Blasts happened in Narendra Modi’s assembly constituency

Let us tell you that on 26 July 2008, the first bomb blast took place in Ahmedabad at 6.45 pm. The blast took place in Maninagar. Maninagar was the constituency of the then Chief Minister Narendra Modi. After this there were 20 more bomb blasts for 70 minutes. 56 people died in these blasts and more than 200 people were injured. These bomb blasts were carried out by the Indian Mujahideen to avenge the Godhra incident in 2002. The terrorists kept the bomb in the tiffin and put it on a bicycle. These explosions took place in crowded and market places. Terrorists associated with the Indian Mujahideen (IM) and the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) were involved in these blasts. Twelve terrorists of Indian Mujahideen were involved in the blasts. 5 minutes before the blasts, the terrorists had also sent a mail to the news agencies in which it was written, ‘Do whatever you want. If you can stop, then stop.’
