Uttar Pradesh / Mathura : Student files rape case against Bhagwatacharya and one of his associates

Residing in an ashram in Vrindavan of Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh, a student studying nursing has filed a complaint of rape, assault and death threats against Bhagwatacharya Karshni Nagendra Maharaj and one of his associates Devendra Shukla, in-charge of Western India of Kashi Vidya Parishad. Case has been registered.
The case was registered after the victim had threatened self-immolation at the police office on February 21, alleging that the police did not act.
Police said that the student has filed a case against Bhagwatacharya Karshni Nagendra Maharaj, resident of Motijheel in Vrindavan, and his partner and property dealer Devendra Shukla, alleging rape, assault and threatening to kill him at the Panigaon police station.
The Deputy Superintendent of Police (Sadar) has started the investigation by recording the statement of the victim
The student said in her complaint that she had a love affair with Pushpendra Shukla, a resident of Panigaon, about four years ago. On 20 March 2018, she was at the house of lover Pushpendra, when Pushpendra’s father Devendra Shukla came there and beat up Pushpendra and drove him away.
According to the complaint, he then raped her while threatening her. He also took pictures of the act and raped her several times, threatening to make it viral. The victim told that after this Devendra took her to Bhagwatacharya Karshni Nagendra Maharaj on the pretext of getting a job.
It is alleged that Maharaj called the student to his residence in Motijheel on July 7, 2020 and raped her and made a video of the incident. After that he raped her several times.
The victim alleged that on February 15, at Vrindavan Kotwali, she had complained against both of them, but instead of registering the case, the police, along with the accused, also took possession of the victim’s mobile which contained evidence against them.
The victim student has alleged that Devendra also took one lakh 20 thousand rupees from her in the name of getting a job, but the job was not done. Later, the student made pressure to return the money, saying that the financial condition of the house was not right. After this, Devendra returned 75 thousand rupees to him through check.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (Sadar) Praveen Malik said that a case has been registered on the basis of the complaint of the girl student and investigation is going on. At the same time, Karshni Nagendra Maharaj said that all the allegations are baseless and said that they are being framed. A fair investigation will bring out the truth.
