Like the farmers’ movement in Himachal Pradesh, preparations for a big movement have started. All categories of employees posted in various departments of Himachal Pradesh have gone on foot to the capital Shimla for restoration of old pension. On Wednesday, hundreds of employees, under the banner of the New Pension Scheme Employees Federation, gathered at the historic Seri Manch in Mandi city and started a padyatra for the restoration of old pension for the employees. This padyatra was flagged off by retired principal Ashok Awasthi from Vallabh College Mandi. On this occasion, the employees also raised slogans regarding restoration of old pension.

State President of New Pension Scheme Employees Federation Pradeep Thakur said that the government employees, upset due to the lax attitude of the state government on the restoration of old pension, are forced to march on foot to the capital Shimla due to heavy anger. He told that the employees will reach Shimla on March 3 via Bilaspur district headquarters and there will be a sit-in demonstration for restoration of old pension by gheraoing the assembly. He told that the march of the employees will go only through the National Highway and during this time the employees’ organization and other organizations will join with them.

Less time for government

He told that this will be a historic sit-in demonstration in which government employees from across the state will participate.
