Students and workers from India, along with a large number of people from other countries, on Wednesday marched from Kharkiv in war-torn Ukraine to the nearest railway station. These people, who are risking their lives, have kept the tricolor. A student’s father said this on Wednesday. Venkatesh Vaishyar told news agency PTI, ‘1000 people including 700 Indians are walking towards the railway station carrying the Indian national flag. This railway station is about seven kilometers away from his bunker. Since no vehicle is available, they are traveling on foot. ,
Venkatesh’s son, Amit, 23, is a fifth-year student at Kharkiv Medical College. He is one of three students from Ranebennur talaq in Haveri district of Karnataka, studying in Kharkiv Medical College. Amit’s cousin Suman, 24, also studies here. Sridhar Murthy Vaishyar’s sons Suman and Amit are trying to return from war-torn Ukraine. On Tuesday, 22-year-old Naveen Shekharappa, his junior, was killed in a gunfight when he came out of his bunker to exchange food, water and money. Venkatesh says, “The students have no option but to take the risk as they do not have food and water. They are now relying on God and are moving towards the railway station. Venkesh told that Amit is his only son and if anything happens to him, he will not be able to live.
