Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has resigned from the post. After the cabinet meeting, on Friday, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami submitted his resignation to Governor Gurmeet Singh. However, the governor has asked him to keep working till the new government is formed. After resigning, Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the new mandate has been received, the work of this period has been completed. I have tendered the resignation of the entire cabinet including myself to the Hon’ble Governor. The governor has said that till the new government is not formed, you will work. Let us tell you that in Uttarakhand, BJP has got 47 seats, Congress has got 19 and independents have got 4 seats. Talking about party-wise vote share, 44.3 percent, Congress got 37.91 and BSP got 4.82 percent. At the same time, 3.31 percent votes came in the share of Aam Aadmi Party. Significantly, Pushkar Singh Dhami has lost the election from Khatima assembly seat. BJP leader was defeated by Bhuvan Chandra Kapri of Congress by a margin of 6,579 votes.
At the same time, after the resignation of the CM, the BJP has started the search for a new CM. The BJP high command has given instructions to Union Minister Piyush Goyal and Dharmendra Pradhan to go to Uttarakhand. Who will send the name of CM candidate to the party after meeting with MLAs in Uttarakhand as BJP observer. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank is the former CM of Uttarakhand. He has also been the Minister of Human Resource Development at the Centre. Nishank is currently a Lok Sabha MP from Haridwar seat.
2- Subodh Uniyal
Subodh Uniyal has been MLA from Narendra Nagar thrice in the year 2002, 2012 and 2017. In the previous government, he has also held the post of Government Spokesperson and Agriculture Minister. And now in 2022, he has again waved his victory by defeating Congress candidate Om Gopal Rawat.
3-Anil Baluni
Anil Baluni’s name has been taken in the list of CM post of Uttarakhand. Anil Baluni is currently a Rajya Sabha MP of BJP. Baluni is a resident of Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand.
4-Ajay Bhatt
The name of Ajay Bhatt, a minister in the central government, is also in discussions about being made the Chief Minister. Ajay Bhatt is the Minister of State for Defense at the Center and the Rajya Sabha MP from Uttarakhand. Ajay Bhatt has been a frequent MLA from the state formation from Ranikhet before becoming a minister at the Centre.
5- Dhan Singh Rawat
Dhan Singh Rawat has been the Higher Education Minister in Uttarakhand. Apart from fulfilling many big responsibilities in the state, he has been successful in winning the elections this time as well. He was involved in the contenders for the post of CM many times in the past, but every time the matter was postponed due to some reason or the other.
