The master mind of the incident of crossing crores of jewelery by breaking the locker of Karachikhana branch of Central Bank of India came out as the bank manager and in-charge of the locker. Kanpur Commissionerate Police said that bank manager, locker in-charge and employees of the locker company were involved in this sensational incident.

The police have detained the bank manager, an employee of the company and two of his associates. The employee of the company has admitted to committing the crime during interrogation. He told that this incident was carried out while opening it by bringing it inactive. It has also been told that he was given 300 grams of gold for this work, in which he sold it to some jewelers in the south area of Kanpur. The police are also preparing to tighten the noose on these jewellers.

On March 14, a woman locker holder named Manju Bhattacharya had complained to the police that her jewelery worth thirty lakh rupees had been stolen from the locker. Eight more such cases came to light one after the other in the Karachikhana branch of the Central Bank, while on Thursday, a case of theft of jewelery worth Rs 45 lakh from a locker from the Bank of India branch in Phulbagh also came to light. It is estimated that jewelery worth Rs 4 crore was stolen in these ten cases. The investigation was handed over to the SIT after registering a case. In this case, the police have interrogated the bank manager Ramprasad, Chandraprakash, an employee of the company operating the bank, his two accomplices Karkaraj and Rakesh in custody, due to which the case has opened a lot.

DCP Crime Salman Taj Patil and SP East Pramod Kumar Singh told in a press conference on Friday evening that when the SIT started the investigation, discrepancies were found in the register and other records of the bank. Investigation revealed that 29 were broken on December 9, 2021 by bringing them inactive. After checking the CCTV footage of that day, bank manager Ram Prasad, in-charge of the locker Shubham Malviya and Chandraprakash of the company and three others were seen going to the room.

DCP Crime said that according to the rules of RBI, a committee is formed to break such lockers which are not being used, in which two senior officers of the bank, two respected citizens of the area who have nothing to do with the bank and a legal advisor. A five-member committee is formed, but the bank manager Ramprasad has followed the rules and himself, in addition to the locker-in-charge, a woman bank officer Swati, advocate Lalmani Mishra, Kamlesh Mishra of Krishna Jewelers and two customers Abdul Wasim Khan, seven members including Ritika. Committee formed. But, there was none of them during the breaking of the bringer.

Pan Commercial, a company authorized by Godrej Company to break the locker, was authorized for the related maintenance related work. Pan Commercial authorized an employee named Chandraprakash. According to the rules, he could go inside the room by bringing him, but the bank manager allowed Karanraj, Rakesh and Ramesh, who were not related to Chandraprakash, to bring them inside the room and go to break them. All these are visible in the CCTV footage.

When the police took Chandraprakash into custody and interrogated Shakthi, he broke down. He told the police that 29 lockers were broken on December 9, out of which ten to twelve lockers were found to have jewellery, but only three lockers were found in the bank’s records. In the interrogation of Chandraprakash, it also came to the fore that on that day he had broken only by bringing 29, but in place of the unusable number, they were broken by bringing an active number.
Banks are made in great depth by bringing them. Thin wire was used to estimate the amount of gold in which locker. The wire was inserted through the key. Going inside the wire, he collided with the stuff kept inside, which gave an idea of how deep the jewelry was kept or was empty after bringing it. Those in which there was an idea of having more jewelry, only those were broken.

During interrogation, Kanakraj told that he had received ten thousand rupees for this work. Later, a promise of Rs 1 lakh was made. Whereas, 250-300 grams of gold jewelery was given to Chandraprakash. Chandraprakash also admitted during interrogation that the jewelery given to him was sold to two jewelers at the rate of Rs 35,000 per ten grams. With the amount received from this, he has made an FD of five lakh rupees in the central bank branch of Gujaini, where he was from.

Police investigation has revealed that in this case, the way Sita Devi was threatened and driven away by the bank, there was another locker holder who got stuck. He was on his way to complain to the police.
In such a situation, the bank manager and locker in-charge Shubham Malviya compensated him with the amount of jewelery he was telling. Told him that if he goes to the police, he will lose his job, so he is compensating from his pass. The holder did not complain after getting the money.
