Yoga class will run for 10 days every month in Health and Wellness Centers of Uttarakhand: Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat

Yoga classes will be conducted for 10 days every month at Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centers operated across the state in collaboration with the Central Government. For this, yoga instructors have been deployed at each of the wellness centers, who will be paid Rs 250 per hour. On the occasion of the fourth anniversary of Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Center, awareness and counseling about nutrition and clean eating was provided to the general public by organizing yoga, physical exercise, Eat Right India program at each of the wellness centers of the state.

State Medical Health and Medical Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat said this as the chief guest on the occasion of 4th anniversary of Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Center at Banjarawala, Dehradun today. On the inauguration of ‘Yoga and Health Session’ organized under the banner of Amrit Mahotsav of Azadi, ‘Dr. Rawat said that the state government is running Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centers across the state with the help of the central government so that the general public can get health services near their homes. He said that yoga classes would be conducted for 10 days every month in these health and wellness centres. For this, trained yoga teachers have been deployed in all the centres, who are being paid Rs 250 per hour.

Dr. Rawat informed that a total of 1464 health and wellness centers are operating in the state, out of which 1031 sub-centres, 38 urban primary health centers and 395 primary health centers are running health and wellness centers. He said that the health and wellness centers provide awareness and counseling about yoga, physical exercise, nutrition and clean eating habits. The Departmental Minister said that after upgrading the sub-centres into health and wellness centres, trained Mid Level Health Providers (MLHPs) were deployed here, through which screening of cancer of uterus, breast and mouth, hypertension and diabetes were done. Counseling is also given regarding prevention of other diseases including investigation. He said that pre-natal, post-natal vaccination and family planning services are also being provided in the wellness centres.

Dr. Rawat said that strengthening health services in the state is one of the priorities of the government. In order to make the health systems more robust and accessible, the government is organizing mega health fairs in every block of the state, which will be conducted from April 18 to April 22. In these health fairs, apart from medical consultation and testing, digital health ID of every person and Ayushman cards of eligible beneficiaries will be made.
