1 crore 10 lakh users left Reliance Jio, are Airtel and Voda better?

All telecom companies, including Reliance Jio, had increased the tariff charges in December 2021, which affected Reliance in the first quarter of 2022. There has been a decrease of around 1 crore 10 lakh in the subscribers of Reliance Jio. India’s largest telecom company has given this information in the data released on Friday. Reliance Jio has said that in the first quarter of March 2022, the company’s standalone net profit has increased by 24 percent and in this quarter this profit reached 4,173 crores. This increase is due to increased tariffs, subscriber mix and FTTH services.

The company said year-on-year standalone revenue on account of operations grew by 20.4 per cent to Rs 20,901 crore, the company said. However, after increasing the tariff, the customer base of the company has come down by 1 crore 9 lakhs. Consolidated net profit for Jio Platforms, the unit that holds telecom and digital businesses, grew 23 per cent to Rs 4,313 crore. Gross revenue grew by 21 per cent to Rs 26,139 crore for the quarter ending March 2022.

The company’s total customer base stood at 412 million for March 2022. While the Average Revenue Per Unit (ARPU) stood at Rs 167.7 per subscriber per month. The same figure was Rs 151.6 per subscriber per month for December. If we look at the year on year basis, according to the company, this ARPU shows a growth of 21.3 percent while it shows a growth of 10.5 percent on quarter on quarter basis. The company’s total traffic during the first quarter was 24.6 billion GB (24 billion 600 million GB), a growth of 47.5 percent.

The company’s gross revenue for this year is Rs 95,804 crore, which is a growth of 17.1 percent over the previous year. Jio Platforms net profit for FY22 was reported to be Rs 15,487 crore, which is a growth of 23.6 per cent over the previous financial year. The company’s statement said that after the tariff hike in December, its customer base decreased by 1 crore 9 lakhs. Although the company’s Gross Edition still remains strong and has increased by 3 crore 50 lakhs. Average data and voice usage per user increased by 19.7GB and 968 minutes per month, respectively, in the March 2022 quarter.
