Chance of rain with thunderstorm in Delhi-NCR today

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that within the next two hours, there may be a dust storm in Delhi-NCR with a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour and rain can occur in many areas. IMD has said that dust gusting with speed of 30-40 km/h in and around isolated places over South, South East Delhi, Gurugram, Faridabad, Ballabhgarh, Rewari, Sohana, Farukhnagar and Manesar (Haryana) There is a possibility of a thunderstorm and rain with light intensity during the next 2 hours.

Earlier, on Friday evening in Delhi, the people of the capital got some respite from the heat due to thunderstorm and strong winds. However, the maximum temperature at Safdarjung Observatory during the day was recorded at 44.4 degrees Celsius, five notches above normal. The maximum temperature on Sunday was recorded at 45.6 degrees Celsius, which is the highest temperature so far this year.

On Friday, the mercury touched 47.5 degrees Celsius in Najafgarh in south-west Delhi and 47.1 degrees Celsius in Mungeshpur in north-west parts of the city. At the weather stations of Pitampura, Sports Complex, Jafarpur, Ridge and Palam, the mercury rose to 47 degree Celsius, 46.2 degree Celsius, 46.1 degree Celsius, 46 degree Celsius, 45.7 degree Celsius and 45.1 degree Celsius respectively.

The Meteorological Department has said in the forecast that due to a cyclonic circulation over Punjab and Haryana, there may be isolated thunderstorms on Saturday. According to IMD, due to a fresh Western Disturbance, there may be rain and thundershowers in Northwest India from tomorrow i.e. from Sunday. According to the department, the maximum temperature in Delhi can drop to 37 degree Celsius till Tuesday.
