Political crisis in Britain due to resignation of two ministers
In Britain, the political crisis has increased due to the sudden resignation of two ministers of the Boris Johnson government. Finance Minister Rishi Sunak and Health Secretary Sajid Javid resigned late on Tuesday night. After this, the difficulties of the British PM already surrounded by controversies will increase. The pressure on him to quit has also increased.
Johnson has appointed Nadim Jahavi as the new finance minister after the two ministers stepped down. At the same time, the Chief of Staff of the British Cabinet, Steve Barsley, has been given the responsibility of Health Secretary.
Reason for resignation
Sunak also wrote a letter to the PM. Said that he is sad to leave the government, but he cannot work in this manner in the post of minister. At the same time, Javid questioned Johnson’s ability to govern after the continuing scandals. Johnson is also facing allegations of appointing MP Chris Pincher as deputy chief whip. Pincher had resigned on Thursday following complaints of sexual misconduct.
Johnson admitted on Tuesday that his decision to induct Pincher into the government was wrong. He also apologized for this. Minutes after the PM apologized, both the ministers resigned.
What did the two ministers say
Rishi Sunak said- The public expects that the government will be run properly and seriously. This may be my last ministerial post, but I believe we should fight for these standards. That’s why I am resigning.
Sajid said- I could not trust PM Johnson’s ability to run the government after the continuous scams. The public and lawmakers did not believe in Johnson’s ability to govern in the interest of the country. Javid said in a letter to PM Johnson – I am sorry to say this, but it is clearly visible that the situation is not going to improve under your leadership, so you have also lost my trust.
Sunak and Sajid were with Johnson in the Partygate case
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, surrounded by the ‘Partygate’ case, had to face a motion of no confidence last month. Johnson was accused of having a house party when the lockdown and strict restrictions were imposed across Britain due to Corona.
This whole incident was named Partygate Scandal in Britain. Even during that time both the ministers were seen standing with Johnson. However, later such reports also came, in which there were talks of dispute between Sunak and Johnson regarding the expenditure.
