In Assam on Sunday, two actors dressed as Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati performed street plays to protest against inflation. Both the artists also rode bikes in this form. All the Hindu organizations including Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal filed a case calling it an insult to the gods and goddesses, on which the police arrested the artists. Later he also got bail. Artists say that they tried this creative way to make people aware.
What is the whole matter?
Two actors in the form of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati came out on bullets in Assam’s Nagaon town on Saturday. His bike suddenly ran out of petrol in the middle of the way. Due to this, the Parvati-turned-actress acts to get angry with the young man who became Shiva. Both of them started arguing on the way in their act and on seeing the debate on petrol, it reached the rising inflation and the problems of the common man.
Artists claim – don’t take constructive protest as an insult
The name of the actor turned Shiva is Brinicha Bora and the name of the actress turned Parvati is Parsmita Das. He told the police that he had pretended to be a ‘constructive protest’ to attract people’s attention. Brinicha Bora who became Shiva said that many people pray to Lord Shiva to get rid of their problems. That is why both of us tried to make people aware in the form of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
CM said – just making costumes is not a crime
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said- Merely making costumes is not a crime. If any objectionable statement comes, it is false. The artist performing as Lord Shiva has got bail.
