Truth and Reality

After 2010, Ranbir could not give two hits in a year, now the whole game rests on Brahmastra

Ranbir Kapoor is one of those Bollywood stars who, after all the three Khans, are considered by the fans as the next heir to the title ‘Superstar’. His debut with ‘Saawariya’ was a flop, and there is a debate on his claim to the ‘Superstar’ title, but Ranbir has a pride in the public.

Ranbir was last seen in the highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2018 ‘Sanju’. Since then he was working on Ayan Mukerji’s passion project ‘Brahmastra’. In between, he also shot a period film ‘Shamshera’ with Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor.

In 2022, both Ranbir Kapoor’s big films ‘Shamshera’ and ‘Brahmastra’ are to be released in theaters. After 7 years it will happen that two films of Ranbir Kapoor will be released in a year. The first film has earned the tag of being a flop after its release. Now all hope rests on Brahmastra.

Ranbir Kapoor is going to be the box office king in 2022. Fans are thinking like this, but if you look at their old records, then these figures do not seem very comforting. How? Let’s tell…

Two hits in a year did not come after 2010

Ranbir was last able to give two hits in a year in 2010 itself. That year, his film ‘Raajneeti’ with Prakash Jha did a business of 93.66 crores. Although it was a multistarrer film and Ranbir was accompanied by big names like Ajay Devgan, Manoj Bajpayee.

In 2010, Ranbir’s ‘Anjaana Anjaani’ was also released with Priyanka Chopra, which earned 40.29 crores at the box office. Although it was an average collection, at least this year Ranbir did not give any flop.

Earlier in 2009, Ranveer had done 3 films – ‘Wake Up Sid’, ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’ and ‘Rocket Singh – Sales Man of the Year’. Out of these, where the first two films can be called hits, the third one had collected the average collection.

2013 – A super hit, a super flop

In ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ released in 2013, Ranbir-Deepika (Deepika Padukone) appeared together on the screen and filled the seats in theaters fiercely. This film was Ranbir’s first superhit. But in the same year, Ranbir also appeared in the film ‘Besharam’ with his parents Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor. And this film is counted among the historical flops!

2015- One to one flop

According to the collection, the year 2015 was such for Ranbir Kapoor which his fans would probably want to delete from memory. This year, three films from Ranbir’s line- ‘Roy’, ‘Tamasha’ and ‘Bombay Velvet’ proved to be more than one flop. Seeing the fan-following of ‘Tamasha’, if you thought that it was a hit, then you are wrong, this fan following was created after the film came on OTT.

Since then, Ranbir has released only one film in a year. Now after 7 years, Ranbir’s ‘Shamshera’ came and all preparations have been made to show him the way out. Just waiting for ‘Brahmastra’ to come. More than that, Ranbir Kapoor is waiting for the film to earn.
