PM Modi’s brother Prahlad Modi staged a sit-in at Jantar Mantar, demanding implementation of Bengal ration model across the country

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s brother and Vice President of All India Fair Price Shop Dealers Federation (AIFPSDF) Prahlad Modi on Tuesday raised slogans while protesting at Jantar Mantar in Delhi over various demands of the organisation.

Prahlad said that the delegation of the organization has submitted a memorandum to PM Narendra Modi regarding their long-standing nine-point demands. He said that the cost of living has increased. It is a joke to increase our margins by just 20 paise per kg amid inflation and increase in the cost of running the shops.

He said that we have requested the central government to give relief and end our financial crisis. He told that the AIFPSDF will hold a meeting of the National Executive on Wednesday, in which the strategy of further action will be decided.

Can meet with Lok Sabha speaker on August 3

AIFPSDF national general secretary Vishwambhar Basu said, “We also plan to meet Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Wednesday.”  He said the organization is demanding compensation for losses incurred on rice, wheat and sugar as well as edible oil and pulses sold from fair price shops.

They also demand that the West Bengal ration model of free distribution should be implemented across the country.  The members demand that all the margin payable for all the states including Jammu and Kashmir should be reimbursed immediately.

The national general secretary said, “We also demand that edible oil, pulses and LPG gas cylinders should be supplied through fair price shops.  Dealers of fair price shops in rural areas should be allowed to act as direct buying agents for rice and wheat.  Our demands were also raised by TMC MP Saugata Roy in Parliament.”
