Swara Bhaskar spoke on the boycott trend- ‘Bollywood was defamed after Sushant’s death’
Swara Bhaskar’s upcoming film is ‘Jahan Chaar Yaar’. Its trailer was released on Monday. She is going to return to the big screen after four years. At present, Bollywood movies are facing the boycott trend on social media. Every day some film is boycotted. Apart from this, South films have given a tough competition to Bollywood at the box office. Swara Bhaskar does not believe in such hate trends. She says that it is not right to celebrate someone’s failure.
Inflation affected
Swara Bhaskar said that the hate trend against Bollywood has increased after the death of Sushant Singh Rajput. Speaking to India Today, Swara said on Bollywood films not working, “The first reason I want to say what Anurag (Kashyap) says is, I heard an interview of him in which he was absolutely right according to me. He said that the country is passing through an economic slowdown. Nobody wants to spend money when everything is expensive. So that’s the first thing and nobody is talking about it. Everyone is accusing Bollywood as if Bollywood is solely responsible for people not coming to the theatre.
‘People who dislike Bollywood’
The second thing is COVID, people do not want to go out of their homes. The third reason is OTT has arrived and it has affected the viewing experience. Fourth, after the unfortunate and tragic suicide of Sushant Singh Rajput, Bollywood was actually portrayed as a bad place with only drugs, alcohol and sex. If everyone is doing just that then who is making the film. Unfortunately Bollywood is being maligned. There are people here who don’t like Bollywood.
‘Many people are associated with a film’
On Laal Singh Chaddha’s poor performance, Swara said, “When Aamir Khan starrer flops, it is not just a film. There are many people working in the film industry. We should see it on a bigger scale.
