Uttarakhand : Tanakpur-Pithoragarh National Highway disrupted for the third consecutive day, ambulance also stuck, passengers upset

The Tanakpur-Pithoragarh National Highway (NH) remained blocked for the third consecutive day. The NH remained closed for five and a half hours on Sunday morning due to debris in the eighth mile and Swanla. It took more than an hour to open the road after the Pokeland pipe burst and the woodcutter was damaged.
At the same time, more than four dozen vehicles were stuck due to the road closure. Due to this a large number of passengers had to wait for hours. An ambulance returning from Haldwani leaving the patient was also stuck. Vehicles from Tanakpur were allowed to come towards the mountain only after the road was opened. Here two rural roads of Champawat district remained closed on Sunday as well.
On the eighth mile, 12 km from Tanakpur, at around 4 am, a huge amount of debris came with the fall of two trees, blocking the road. After this, the movement came to a standstill at 4:41 am due to debris coming in Swanla too. Debris from Swanla was cleared at 6 o’clock but it took time to repair it after a pipe burst of the Pokeland machine engaged in removing the debris from the eighth mile.
problems faced by passengers
When this pipe was fixed, the woodcutter who cut the tree lying on the road gave the answer. When this was not corrected, Forest Inspector Revadhar Joshi got the tree cut by getting another machine from Tanakpur. However, this exercise took an hour more. The movement was made smooth after removing the debris at 9.30 am.
On the other hand, due to the closure of the road, those coming from Tanakpur to the mountain were stopped at Kakraligate, while more than four dozen small and big vehicles going from the mountain to the ground were stuck in the way. Due to non-availability of any official of the administration, arrangements for water etc. could not be made for the passengers.
