Punjab : When questions arose on meeting PM Modi, Manish Tewari said – we Punjabis are not small hearted

Congress MP Manish Tewari attended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s program in Mohali, Punjab on Wednesday. After this, many people raised questions on this meeting on social media and shared their picture shaking hands. In response, he said that we Punjabis are not small hearted.

Manish Tewari tweeted, “Protocol and respect. When the Prime Minister of the country has come to your parliamentary constituency, it becomes necessary for you as an MP there that you should attend that program under his respect and common courtesy. The PM had come to my parliamentary constituency, Shri Anandpur Sahib, so I welcomed him despite political differences. We Punjabis are neither small minded nor small hearted.

Let us inform that Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated the 300-bed Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital in Mullanpur, Mohali. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was present on this occasion.

On the other hand, senior Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa criticized the Punjab government for not inviting Congress MLAs for the inauguration. He said that not inviting the MLAs of the opposition party shows the narrow mindset of the government.

Bajwa said the foundation stone of the hospital was laid by the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on December 30, 2013 and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) patriarch Parkash Singh Badal was the Chief Minister of Punjab at that time.

Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Wadding said it was good on behalf of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to welcome Prime Minister Modi and thank him for inaugurating the hospital, but he should have acknowledged Singh’s contribution as well.
