A cloudburst in Chirbatia Kedar Phadka Tok of Nilchami belt in Tehri, Uttarakhand has caused huge destruction in the Bhilangana area. There were heaps of debris in the fields due to which the crops of paddy, manduwa and jhagore prepared in the fields of the villagers got ruined.

A cloud burst in Chirbatia Kedar Phadka Tok at around 7 am on Wednesday morning, causing a boom in Nalchamigad. Rajendra Singh, Kapil Badoni, Pramod Bisht, etc. of Bhatwara village said that the foot culverts built in Saud, Bhatwara, Thela, Kedar Phadka were washed away due to the rise of Nailchamigad.

The canals of Tharti, Thela, Shivpuri, Mallyakot were damaged. DM Dr. Saurabh Gaharwar along with the officials visited the disaster affected villages and took stock of the damage. The survey of the disaster affected villages will be done by the geologists. If the rehabilitation of any village is recommended in the report, then a proposal will be sent to the government.

SDM KN Goswami said that about 15 hectares of agricultural land has been damaged due to the disaster. Energy Corporation’s Under Engineer Shashibhushan Joshi told that the power line has been broken at many places. Repair work has been started on the damaged lines after afternoon. Supply will be restored in all villages within a day or two.

The 15 meter long motor bridge built on the under-construction Thela-Tharti-Chirbatia motorway got buried under the debris due to the rise in the water level of Nalchamigad. In November last year, on the four-km-long route, Lonvi had built a bridge near Tharti village at a cost of 32 lakhs.

The connectivity of Sarmoli, Saud, Kund, Bhelkudi and Chopda villages has been cut due to the bridge being buried under the debris. EE Jagdish Chandra Khati of Lonvi said that a proposal is being prepared to construct a causeway for the drainage of water at the bridge site. If the water level is low, an alternate route will be made there in a day or two.

Nagdei Devi’s house in Luthiag village was buried under the rubble due to cloudburst. The administration has shifted the affected family to a safer place. At the same time, the Gharat collapsed in Chhapri Gad and the foot bridge was washed away. Ramratan Panwar, Jitendra Naithani etc. said that there has been a lot of damage to the fields, canals, pedestrian paths, roads in Chirbatia area in five km area. Here, the Mayali-Chirbatia-Ghansali state road was also closed for several hours due to the boom of the Mardigad Gadre, which made it difficult for the SDRF and NDRF teams to reach the affected villages.

District Magistrate Mayur Dixit, Jakholi Block Chief Pradeep Thapliyal visited the affected villages. The DM said that immediate relief is being given to the affected families who have been shifted elsewhere. The DM said that a geological survey of the affected villages would be done. MLA Bharat Singh Chaudhary also visited the affected villages and inspected the damage caused by the disaster.
