The atmosphere was heated by the statements on the recruitments made in the Uttarakhand Assembly, now all eyes are on the Speaker’s decision

The atmosphere is heated in the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly over the investigation into the recruitments allegedly done through the back door. The different reactions of former Chief Minister Harish Rawat, Trivendra Singh Rawat and former Speaker and Finance Minister on the appointments have further heated up the politics. Now all eyes are on Assembly Speaker Ritu Bhushan Khanduri. The speaker, who returned from a foreign tour, is expected to reach Dehradun on Tuesday. She has been on a foreign tour for the past one week and has returned home after attending a conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association. On Tuesday, she can come to Dehradun from New Delhi. Since Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has also said to request the Speaker regarding the inquiry of all the recruitments of the Vidhan Sabha. So eyes are on Speaker Khanduri’s decision. It is believed that the speaker will first find out the facts related to the whole matter in the immediate circumstances. There is a possibility that she may make a courtesy call on the Chief Minister before deciding to investigate the matter. After that she will reach a decision.

There is no problem if recruitment is checked: Agarwal

Former Speaker and Finance Minister Premchand Agarwal said that if the recruitment of his tenure is investigated, then he has no problem in it. He reiterated that appointments are made only when required. According to sources, after the speaker’s return, a decision on the investigation of recruitments can be taken in the assembly this week.

Question on appointments insult to Supreme Court: Kunjwal

Haldwani. Former Speaker of the Assembly Govind Singh Kunjwal said that all the appointments made during my tenure were investigated by the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court had declared all those appointments valid, all the allegations that were made were proved to be baseless at the same time. Questioning these appointments is an insult to the Supreme Court.

Vis makes law, there should be justice: Trivendra

Former Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat also did not miss to raise questions on the recruitment in the assembly. He said that the assembly makes laws, there should be justice. Public interest and state interest should be paramount for him. There have been rules and regulations for recruitment, they should be followed. To say transparency should not even be visible.

Tell a relative who got a job under my influence: Harish

Former Chief Minister Harish Rawat has also jumped in the matter. He challenged that in his public life so far, he should mention one person who is from his family, relative or kinsman and he was given a job under his influence. In the year 2016, during Rawat’s Chief Ministership, the then Speaker Kunjwal made 158 recruitments in Vis, on which questions are being raised. He is considered among the politicians closest to Harish Rawat. Rawat raised the demand to cancel the appointments made against the rules by passing a resolution in Vis.
