Uttarakhand : Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi will surrender in Haridwar jail before Friday

Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi (earlier named Waseem Rizvi) has made preparations to surrender in Haridwar jail before Friday, after getting setback from the Supreme Court in the inflammatory speech case. Jitendra Tyagi has given this information to the media by issuing a video statement.

The matter had gained momentum across the country after videos of provocative speeches at an event held in North Haridwar went viral in December last year. Cases were registered against Swami Yeti Narasimhanand, Jitendra Narayan Tyagi on many different Tahrirs.

Jitendra Narayan Tyagi was arrested from Narsan Border in Haridwar on 13 January. After the Haridwar District and Sessions Court, the bail application of Jitendra Narayan Tyagi was also rejected by the Nainital High Court. After which his advocate had sought bail in the Supreme Court for treatment of Tyagi citing heart disease.

On May 17, the Supreme Court, while granting conditional bail, ordered that he would not make any inflammatory speeches during the bail. Hearing this petition, the Supreme Court refused to give further relief to Jitendra Tyagi and ordered surrender.

Issuing a video statement, Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi said that I respect the judiciary of India and I will surrender before Friday in the district jail, Haridwar. Said that I am proud that I am in the country of India. Had I been in Afghanistan and even thought about the Parliament of Religions, I would have been hanged.

SIT is investigating the matter
The police had registered a case against Jitendra Narayan in the FIR under sections 153A, 298 of the IPC. The investigation of this case was handed over to the SIT. Later, the investigator had extended the names of Sant Dharmadas, Sadhvi Annapurna Bharati, Swami Yati Narasimhanand and Sagar Sindhu Maharaj in the trial.

After the arrest of Jitendra Narayan Tyagi and Yeti Narasimhanand, notices were given to the rest of the named accused under Section 41 of CrPC. Chargesheet has been filed against the accused in the court. SIT investigation is still going on.
