Shankaracharya Swaroopanand Saraswati, the greatest religious guru of Hindus, has passed away. Shankaracharya has died at the age of 99. Jagadguru Shankaracharya Shri Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati was the Shankaracharya of two mathas (Dwarka and Jyotirmath). He breathed his last today at 3.30 pm at Paramhansi Ganga Ashram Jhoteshwar district Narsinghpur. Shankaracharya went to jail after participating in the freedom struggle. He also fought a long legal battle for the construction of Ram temple. Recently, on the day of Teeja, Swamiji’s 99th birthday was celebrated.

On the death of Shankaracharya, CM Dhami tweeted, “Sad news was received of the death of Pujya Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati ji, the flag bearer of Sanatan Dharma. Swamiji’s death is an irreparable loss to the Sant Samaj as well as to the entire nation. I pray to Lord Shiva to place the pious soul at his feet.

In a joint statement issued here today, Uttarakhand Congress President Karan Mahra, Vice President Dhirendra Pratap and General Secretary Organization Vijay Saraswat have expressed deep sorrow and grief over the death of Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati, Shankaracharya of Dwarka Peeth. In a joint statement issued by Congress Vice President Dhirendra Pratap on behalf of the three leaders, describing Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati as the “great flag bearer of Hinduism and Indianism”, said that by his death the country has made one of the greatest saints of its era, a great knower of Hinduism. And the true symbol of unity and integrity of the country is lost.

Karan Mahra, Dhirendra Pratap and Vijay Saraswat have said that crores of people of the country have been shocked by their demise. They will remain the source of inspiration for the people for centuries. He worked for charity throughout his life.
