Uttarakhand / Haldwani : Bhojanmata’s son died due to flowing in the drain
Bhojanmata’s son died due to flowing while crossing the rainy drain near Bhakra river located on the Haldwani-Ramnagar road. Police, SDRF and relatives have recovered the body after 21 hours of the incident.
Used to work as a DJ
27-year-old Pankaj Thapa alias Kannu son of Chhadayal Nayak, Vishan Singh Thapa used to work as DJ. His mother is a food mother in Pilikothi Government Primary School. According to relatives, on Saturday, he went towards Basani on a bike with his two friends Gaurav Joshi and Narendra Maurya. At six o’clock in the evening, when Chadayal Nayak started crossing the flooded drain in Rola Colony Sangam Vihar Phase IV, Pankaj was swept away in a strong current.

Dead body found at 3 pm
Seeing Pankaj flowing, the friends raised an alarm to save him. On information, the SHO arrived with the team. His search continued till late in the evening. The rescue had to be stopped when it was dark. According to the police station, the rescue operation started in search of the youth from 6 am on Sunday. Police, SDRF and relatives recovered his body from near Pokhara at 3 pm. After the post-mortem, the body has been handed over to the relative.
Video went viral on internet media
The video of the young man flowing into the drain is going viral on the internet. He is crossing the overflowing creek. Once, he is seen escaping near the car. As he progressed, his steps stumbled and he fell down from the slide and got swept away.
Pankaj was the eldest of three brothers
Pankaj was the eldest of three brothers. His second number brother works in a private gas agency. The youngest brother is learning motor parts. Pankaj’s death has created a furore in the family.
Santosh did not listen to mother Kamala
Santosh’s father had died five years ago. Mother Kamala Thapa started cooking food in school when the financial condition of the house was not right. The situation in the house was improving that the mother and the brothers had suffered a major setback.
