A case has come to the fore in Krishnapuri of Rawatpur police station area. Here a family kept the dead body of an income tax worker alive for one and a half years and kept it at their home. This information came to light on Friday afternoon when the team of CMO Kanpur reached home on the complaint of the department. The team found the skeletonized body of an income tax worker at the house. When he told the family about his death, he agreed to fight. There was a lot of uproar over this. Seeing the situation, the health department team informed the police. The police reached the spot, after which the dead body was brought to the hall after persuasion. On the orders of the CMO, a panel of three doctors has been ordered to investigate the matter.
35-year-old Vimlesh Gautam, a resident of Krishnapuri in Rawatpur police station area of Kanpur, was posted in Ahmedabad on the post of AO in the Income Tax Department. Vimlesh’s wife is Mithali Dixit, who is in Cooperative Bank. The two had a love marriage seven years back. Has a five year old son and a three year old daughter.
Vimlesh’s family lives in a three-storey house with the family of father Ram Autar Gautam, mother Ramdulari, besides brothers Sunil Gaitam and Dinesh Gautam. Vimlesh Gautam had come home in the year 2019 on leave from the department due to illness, but had not yet reached duty.
Income Tax Department had requested for investigation
CMO Alok Ranjan said that a letter from Vimlesh’s wife Mitali had gone to the Income Tax Department recently, citing her husband’s illness and asking him to undergo a health test. Based on this letter, the Income Tax Department, Hyderabad had requested the Kanpur CMO for a health test. After receiving the letter, he sent a team under the leadership of Deputy CMO OP Gautam on Friday to Vimlesh’s house.
Housemates started making ruckus
When the team reached home, the body of Vimlesh, who had become a skeleton, was found there. When the team of doctors told him dead, the family members started creating ruckus by telling him to be alive. After this the police was informed. On information, ACP Dinesh Chandra Shukla, Rawatpur police station in-charge Sanjay Shukla reached the spot. After understanding, the body was brought to Halat. According to the CMO, a three-member inquiry committee has been constituted.
Why is the smell not coming from such an old dead body?
The CMO said that during the investigation, it has come to the fore that even the people of the locality did not smell the dead body, it is also being investigated. Prima facie, there is no possibility of the dead body going into the mummy form, but how the family members did it will also be investigated.

The CMO said that there was talk with Vimlesh’s wife and brother. It has come to the fore in conversation with him that Vimlesh had returned home from Hyderabad due to illness. He was shown to many hospitals in Kanpur. At that time it was Corona time. He was later admitted to Moti Hospital on Birhana Road. He died there at four o’clock in the morning of 22 April 2021. According to relatives, he had double pneumonia.
