Uttarakhand : Congressmen sitting on dharna on Ankita murder case, demanded this from the government
Congress workers today registered a protest by fasting, alleging erasure of evidence in the Ankita murder case, and negligence in the investigation. Under the leadership of former state president Ganesh Godiyal, many big leaders including former Chief Minister Harish Rawat sat on a fast in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Gandhi Park. During this, UKD, CPI(M) and many other organizations have also given their support to the dharna. Congress demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter. On the other hand, in Raiwala too, people blocked the highway against the indecent remarks made by an RSS functionary on Ankita’s family members. Former CM Harish Rawat said that the killers of Ankita will be punished only when the evidence remains. Evidence is being destroyed. No action was taken in time. The arrest was delayed. There was a delay in recovering Ankita’s body. Bulldozers were fired at the resort where there was evidence. During this, on the announcement of financial assistance of 25 lakhs given by the Chief Minister to the family of Ankita Bhandari, Congress State President Karan Mehra said that this is not a bailout which the government is looting applause by distributing the families of the victims. He demanded financial assistance to be increased to Rs. At the same time, he has also raised questions on the investigation of the police in the Ankita murder case. He said that an attempt has been made by the police to quell public anger by pressurizing Ankita’s family members.
He has also objected to the DGP making public on social media the audio of the phone conversation with Ankita’s father on behalf of the DGP. Former Congress state president Ganesh Godiyal said that the way the government is systematically destroying evidence to protect the criminals in this case, he does not trust the investigation of the government and the police administration. He once again reiterated the demand for a CBI inquiry into the matter under the supervision of a sitting judge of the High Court.
On the other hand, villagers and people associated with various organizations gheraoed the Raiwala police station and blocked the Dehradun-Haridwar highway due to the indecent remarks made by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh official Vipin Karnwal on Ankita Bhandari and her family members through Facebook. . The protesters demanded strict action against Vipin. There is a lot of anger among the people across the state regarding the Ankita murder case. On Wednesday too, people of various organizations staged a sit-in demonstration at many places including Kotdwar, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Haridwar. People demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter. Ganesh Godiyal said that after talking to Ankita’s father, he asked to write a letter for CBI investigation. He said that if he consents, the Congress will file a petition on his behalf in the Nainital High Court, seeking a CBI inquiry. But for this the consent of the family is necessary.
