Subramanian Swamy filed a petition against the Modi government in Delhi HC, said – could not provide security

BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy has started a court battle against his own government. He has appealed to the Delhi High Court to pass an order against the Center by filing a petition. Swamy says that the Center is not able to provide adequate security at his private residence. This threatens their security system. The High Court has listed the matter for hearing on 31 October i.e. Monday. A bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma will hear the matter.

Subramanian Swamy was given z security cover by the central government. On 15 January 2016, he was allotted a government bungalow in Lutyens’ Delhi for five years. The government believed that his life was in danger. After that Swamy became a Rajya Sabha MP. But his term ended on April 24.

According to the rules, the life of the government bungalow allotted to him also ended then. But still the house remained with him. Recently he was asked to vacate the government bungalow immediately. The former MP had vacated the bungalow after that.

Swamy then appealed to the Delhi High Court that he had got Z security. In view of this, the government bungalow should remain with them. On September 14, Justice Yashwant Sinha said that the former MP could not produce any document to suggest that a person with Z security should get a government house.

ASG Sanjay Jain, appearing for the government, said that Swamy has his own house in Delhi. They can move there. The central government will take necessary steps for their safety. The court had then said that their safety should be kept in mind.

Today, on behalf of the former MP, his lawyer Jayant Mehta argued that he had vacated the government house on October 24. But the government had then given an undertaking that it would make full arrangements for their security. Mehta said that till now no step has been taken by the Center for Swamy’s safety.
