Jharkhand : Dhanbad trembled with the sound of gunfire, 4 coal thieves killed in CISF firing; 2 injured

4 people died while 2 are seriously injured in a clash between the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and coal thieves. The deceased are said to be coal thieves. The case pertains to Benidih link railway siding under Block-2 area located in Katras of Dhanbad district. According to the information received in connection with the incident, there was a clash between the people who had come to steal coal and the CISF jawans at around 12.30 am. The jawans fired in which 4 people died. 2 people got injured.

Resentment against the administration in the relatives of the dead

Here, the relatives of those killed have expressed anger against the police administration and public representatives. The bodies of the deceased have been kept at SNHMS. Dhanbad SDM has reached Baghmara and is taking stock of the situation. The spot has been converted into a cantonment. Police have also recovered 21 bikes from the spot.

Clash between soldiers and thieves late on Saturday

In relation to the incident, it is said that some people had come late night from KK link siding to collect coal. His activities were suspicious. When the CISF jawans interrupted, an argument started which further turned into a clash. It is said that during the skirmish, firing was done by the CISF, in which 4 people died. 2 people are injured. However, CISF has confirmed only 1 injured.

The relatives raised many questions on the firing. The relatives of the deceased accused the coal mining companies of arbitrariness. Said that local people were not given jobs in coal mines. Our lands were taken. Majority of the population of Baghmara is unemployed. What will people do if they do not steal coal in unemployment? What option do we have after all. A young man said that I agree that theft is a crime but was firing the only option. With whose permission was the bullet fired? If our people were guilty, we would have arrested them. And the sister of one of the deceased said that he could have been arrested. Would have beaten you but why did you shoot? The woman said that we want justice. We need answers. The relatives are also demanding compensation.

That on November 19, at 11:45 pm, jawans were going towards Benidih railway siding and found that coal was being stolen by anti-social elements through 4-5 bikes. When the jawans warned, they fled leaving the bike. According to the official statement of CISF, when the jawans were returning at 12:15 am on November 20, they found 90-100 people on 40-50 bikes armed with deadly weapons blocking the way.

CISF claims that they made the QRT in-charge off the vehicle. Dragged away and attacked. One group attacked another QRT vehicle. In such a situation, the jawans fired in the air in self-defense, which accidentally hit some people in the crowd. 5 people who were injured in the bullet were immediately taken to PMCH. There 4 people were declared dead while 1 was referred to Ranchi after first aid. Later another person was also brought to PMCH for treatment but we do not confirm that.
