North Korea tests ballistic missiles again, will have firepower till Japan

North Korea on Sunday (December 18) fired two ballistic missiles towards its east coast (Fired 2 Ballistic Missile), which is its first test of weapons in the last one month. Let us tell you that just two days ago, North Korea had claimed to have conducted a crucial test needed to make a powerful intercontinental ballistic missile (IRCBM) capable of hitting mainland America.

North Korea fired two ballistic missiles

South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said its military detected two ballistic missiles fired by North Korea from its northwestern Tongchangri area. The missiles flew towards the East Sea of North Korea. North Korea’s Sohae Satellite Launch Center is located in the Tongchangri area, where the country has launched several long-range rockets carrying satellites in the past.

Missiles fired at an interval of 50 minutes

A South Korean official told PTI that these missiles were fired at an interval of about 50 minutes. However, these officials refused to share any other information. These officials were also asked what types of weapons North Korea tested and how far they flew. These questions were not answered by the officials. The Joint Chiefs of Staff said the South Korean military has strengthened its surveillance and is maintaining close coordination with the US. Japanese officials also said they detected two missile launches by North Korea.

North Korea tests new weapon

On the other hand, when talks were held with the Coast Guard of Japan in this matter, they told that the missiles fired from North Korea fell in the sea between Japan and the Korean Peninsula. These officials further stated that both missiles had fallen outside Japan’s exclusive economic zone. Earlier on Thursday, North Korea tested a new strategic weapon ‘high-thrust solid-fuel motor’ at the Sohae center.

Because of this North Korea is testing weapons

The test of this new strategic weapon could help North Korea develop a ballistic missile to strike the US mainland. However, it is not yet known whether Sunday’s test was conducted from the Sohae centre. This is the first public test of weapons by North Korea since the test of the long-range Hwasong-17 intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) last month. At the same time, experts believe that North Korea is rapidly testing its weapons, so that it can pressurize the US to get relief from the sanctions imposed on it and to take other exemptions.
