Women FIH Nations Cup: Indian team won the title by defeating Spain

Indian Women’s Hockey Team players have done wonders in the Women’s FIH Nations Cup played in Spain. The Indian hockey team has won the final of the Women’s FIH Nations Cup 2022 by defeating Spain on Saturday. India beat Spain 1-0 in the final of the Women’s FIH Nations Cup to lift the title. With this, the Indian women’s hockey team has confirmed its place in the 2023-24 FIH Pro League. Gurjit Kaur scored the only goal in the opening quarter, which turned out to be the game-winning goal until the last.

India lead 1-0 in the second half

Two good goal chances came from penalty corners before the half-time horn. Spain’s Clara Perez was able to stop Indian player Gurjit from scoring again while Savita denied Spain’s Lucia Jimenez. India took a 1-0 lead in the second half. After this both the teams showed aggression. Clara Perez once again failed the goal attempt from India. India again tried to double their lead with a penalty corner, which failed.

Spain tried to equalize the score

The hosts kept the pressure on while chasing the target. The Spanish team was also attacking relentlessly, but India’s defense was alert, stopping every threat. Trailing 1-0 in the fourth quarter, the hosts tried hard to level the scores but the Indian hockey team did not give Spain any chance till the very end and created a new history by winning the title.
