Cheteshwar Pujara-R Ashwin eyes Kapil Dev and Sachin Tendulkar’s records, one 16 and the other 11 runs behind

The Indian cricket team, captained by KL Rahul, will play in the second Test match against Bangladesh (IND vs BAN) from Thursday (December 22). Indian cricket team’s experienced batsman Cheteshwar Pujara and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin are eyeing a big record in this Test match. The India vs Bangladesh 2nd Test match will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.

R Ashwin is 11 runs away from his 3000 runs in Test cricket. By achieving this feat in Test cricket, Ashwin will join the club of veteran Kapil Dev, Shane Warne of Australia, Richard Hadlee of New Zealand and former South African all-rounder Shaun Pollock. Along with scoring 3000 or more runs in Test cricket, Kapil Dev, Shane Warne, Pollock, Headley and Stuart Broad have also taken more than 400 wickets. Ashwin is 7 wickets away from the figure of 450 wickets in Test cricket.

Kumble’s record in danger
Ashwin, who plays domestic cricket for Tamil Nadu, has a golden opportunity to break Anil Kumble’s record. Kumble is the fastest Indian bowler to get 450 wickets. Jumbo achieved this record in the year 2005 in the 93rd match against Pakistan. Sri Lankan veteran Muttiah Muralitharan is at number one in this list. Muralitharan achieved the record in his 80th Test match in May 2003. Ashwin has so far taken 443 wickets in 87 Test matches, taking 5 wicket hauls 30 times.

Pujara can get entry in Sachin’s club
On the other hand, Cheteshwar Pujara will complete his 8000 runs in Test cricket as soon as he takes his 16th run in the second Test match. By doing so, Pujara will join the club of legends Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sunil Gavaskar, VVS Laxman, Virender Sehwag, Virat Kohli and Sourav Ganguly.
