Anthony Albanese: There is no change in the rules for passengers coming from China to Australia – PM Anthony

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said that there has been no change in the rules for travelers coming to Australia from China. However, the Kovid-19 test has been made mandatory in some countries. Albanese told the Australian Broadcasting Corp (ABC), “We will take the appropriate advice from health experts. There is no change to travel advice at this time, but we are monitoring the situation as we continue to monitor the impact of COVID here in Australia as well as around the world.”

China has relaxed strict measures adopted to contain the spread of the coronavirus. Since then there has been a flood of corona cases in the country and there is no place to even set foot in the hospitals. In view of this, many countries including the United States, India and Japan have imposed restrictions on travelers from the mainland.

China-Australia relations had deteriorated

Australia and China have recently resumed diplomatic talks. Relations between the countries had hit a low following Australia’s criticism of China’s handling of COVID-19.

Restrictions on Australian exports

In 2020, China imposed trade restrictions on several major Australian exports. This month, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong became the country’s first government minister to visit China since 2019. On Thursday, Australian Trade Minister Don Farrell said Beijing had banned imports of Australian barley and wine. He is ready to visit China to talk on this subject. At present, Australia has complained about this to the World Trade Organization.
