Severe cyclonic storm showed impact, Heavy rains in Kerala, Orange alert issued in Gujarat
The deep pressure that developed in the Lakshadweep region is moving north-east along the Arabian Sea, due to which there is a possibility of heavy rains and strong winds in central and northern Kerala on Saturday. Due to this Kerala, Maharashtra, Goa, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Karnataka are on alert. In view of this, the administration and security teams are on alert. The NDRF has deployed 53 teams in view of the severity of the situation. The Meteorological Department has also predicted a further cyclonic storm in the next 24 hours. Experts had predicted that on Saturday, May 15, it would become a storm and move in the northwest direction. It is being said that this storm will move towards Gujarat. On Friday, heavy rains were recorded off the Kottayam coast of Kerala. Weather information agency Skymet Weather has predicted that severe weather conditions may occur over Kerala, Karnataka and Konkan in the next 48 hours. The effect of moving ahead of the storm will also be seen in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Lakshadweep, Goa. Strong winds are forecast here. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in Mumbai and Thane. Whereas, Orange Alert has been issued in some districts of Gujarat and Kerala.
A cyclonic storm can reach Gujarat and adjoining Pakistan by the evening of 18 May. Simultaneously, an area of cyclonic winds is also forming over central Pakistan. In the last 24 hours, heavy rains were recorded in many parts of Kerala, Lakshadweep. On Saturday, interior parts of Lakshadweep, Kerala, Karnataka, Konkan, Goa and Tamil Nadu may receive heavy rains. Whereas, Kerala, Karnataka, South Maharashtra Coast and Lakshadweep region will go to sea waves to great heights.
Here, the administration is cautious about the talk. NDRF chief SN Pradhan informed on Friday that 53 teams have been prepared for relief operations. Of these, 24 teams have been deployed in Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Maharashtra. At the same time, 29 parties have been asked to be ready. The Meteorological Department has feared that the storm may turn into a major storm from May 16-19.
