Regular monitoring of health parameters of COVID-19 patients should be ensured: Chief Minister Himachal Pradesh
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, expressing concern over the increase in mortality due to COVID-19 in the state, directed the Health Department to develop more effective mechanisms to ensure all possible treatment and life saving devices to the patients. He is here today through video conferencing at Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla, Dr. Rajendra Prasad was presiding over the meeting held with the Principals of Government Medical College Tanda and Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Medical College, Nerchak, Mandi and senior officials of the State Government.
The Chief Minister said that better patient management system should be developed in COVID wards to ensure continuous monitoring of the condition of patients. He said that not only the doctors and other paramedical personnel should visit the Kovid patients regularly, but also the ward sister and the ward voice should ensure continuous examination of the health parameters of the patients. He said that if the condition of the patient worsens, then it should be brought to the attention of the doctors so that the patients can be treated properly on time.
Jai Ram Thakur said that to ensure adequate supply of oxygen in medical colleges, Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla, Dr. Additional storage capacity of 20 MT capacity will be created soon at Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College Tanda and Sri Lal Bahadur Shastri Medical College Nerchak, Mandi. He said that similarly efforts should be made to set up PSA plants in various health institutions in the state.
The Chief Minister said that currently Dr. In Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda, 49 ventilators are functional and soon 19 additional ventilators will be provided. He said that 35 additional ventilators would be provided to the Nerchak Medical College. He said that the State Government has also requested the Center to provide 200 additional ventilators from the PM Cares for the state.
Jai Ram Thakur directed the Health Department to make efforts to reduce the delay in the report of COVID investigation. He said that it should be ensured that all investigation reports are made available within 36 hours. He said that private laboratories should also be included for corona testing, so that the report will be received on time. He said that ward cistars should visit the COVID wards continuously to ensure proper care of Kovid patients. He said that 24-hour monitoring of COVID wards should be ensured so that patients do not face any inconvenience. He said that an effective mechanism should be developed to ensure regular status of patients’ status to the families of COVID patients.
The Chief Minister said that apart from the purchase of D-type Oxygen cylinders, to speed up the work of MakeShift Hospitals to ensure smooth supply of Oxygen.
Health Minister Dr. Rajiv Saizal, Chief Secretary Anil Khachi, Additional Chief Secretaries RD Dhiman and J.C. Sharma, Principal Secretary Subhashish Panda, Health Secretary Amitabh Awasthi, Mission Director of National Health Mission, Dr. Nipun Jindal, Special Secretary Arindam Chaudhary and Abid Hussain Sadiq, IGMC Principal Dr. Rajneesh Pathania and IGMC Shimla Senior Medical Superintendent Dr. Janak Raj was also present in the meeting.
