Bangladesh succeeds, India surpasses India in per capita income

Bangladesh was considered one of the poorest countries in the world when it was created in 1971 after breaking away from Pakistan. Everyone was wondering how this country with a huge scarcity of natural resources will proceed on the path of development. Above all, Bangladesh has also faced many natural disasters that have always pushed Bangladesh’s dream flight backward, despite 51 years of its creation, Bangladesh has written its own success story. Bangladesh has overtaken the giant India in terms of per capita income.

Left India behind

Bangladesh has also surpassed India in per capita income by achieving great success. The per capita income of Bangladesh has increased to $ 2227 while the per capita income in India is $ 1947. That is, Bangladesh has a per capita income of $ 280 more than that of India. Leaving India behind in terms of per capita income is a big thing for Bangladesh. Because, in terms of population also, Bangladesh has more population density than India. Bangladesh Cabinet Secretary stated that ‘Bangladesh has registered a 9 per cent increase in per capita income in the 2020-21 financial year compared to the previous financial year. The per capita income in Bangladesh in 2020-21 is $ 2227, compared to 2064 in the previous financial year.

In 2007, the per capita income from India was half

It is also a great success for Bangladesh to overtake India in terms of per capita income, because about 14 years ago, in 2007, Bangladesh’s per capita income was half that of India. At the same time, the IMF had estimated in the World Economic Outlook a few years ago that Bangladesh will overtake India in terms of per capita income. But, IMF estimates were for the year 2025 and Bangladesh has achieved this feat 3 years ahead of IMF estimates.
