Himachal Pradesh : The Chief Minister directed the officials to take time-bound measures to prevent the spread of corona infection.

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while presiding over the review meeting of Kovid-19 in the state directed the officials to take appropriate measures in time to control the situation. He said that the corona curfew is showing tangible results. Corona cases are declining, but death due to corona is still a concern. He said that effective strategies should be put in place to reduce deaths from corona infection.

The Chief Minister said that adequate number of masks, sanitizers and gloves should be provided to ASHA workers so that they can perform their duties in a better and fearless manner. He said that apart from body bags and vest bags, sufficient number of PPE kits should be provided at the level of Primary Health Center so that Kovid-19 deceased can be cremated as per protocol.

Jai Ram Thakur said that special emphasis should be given on transferring serious patients from home isolation to the hospital so that they can be treated on time. He said that about 38 percent deaths occurred within 24 hours of being admitted to various hospitals in the state. Similarly, home isolation accounted for 7.7 percent of the deaths and 4.1 percent of the patients were brought dead to the hospital. He said that ASHA workers and other health workers should constantly monitor the condition of the patients so that they can be transferred to the hospital if the condition of the patients worsens.

The Chief Minister stressed the need to strengthen the supply chain of medicines, oxygen concentrators, oxygen cylinders and other life saving drugs. He said that the central government has also increased the state’s oxygen quota to 40 metric tons. He said that the state government has increased the storage capacity of oxygen by 25 metric tons. He said that there were 2500 D type cylinders in the state, which has now been increased to 6500. He said that five cases of black fungus have been reported in the state, out of which four have been operated.

Jai Ram Thakur said that the process of vaccination is going smoothly in the state. He said that till now about 22.88 lakh vaccine doses have been administered to the people of the state. He said that although the Government of India has recommended on-site registration and appointment for vaccination in the age group of 18-44 years, the Government of India has left the decision of the state government to do on-site registration on a local basis. He urged the youth to get themselves registered on the Kovin app to avoid congestion and inconvenience at the vaccination sites.

The Chief Minister said that effective mechanism should also be developed to ensure the success of the campaign to identify Kovid-19 patients with any type of ILI symptom. He said that this will not only help in timely detection of Kovid patients but will also prevent the spread of the infection. He said that legislators and representatives of other elected Panchayati Raj Institutions and urban local bodies can also play an important role in making this campaign a success.

The Chief Minister emphasized to deliver home isolation kits on time for Kovid patients. He said that the Deputy Commissioner and the Chief Medical Officer should maintain proper coordination with the legislators of their districts for proper distribution of home isolation kits.

The Chief Minister said that if there is a third wave of Corona virus, then timely preparations should be ensured with a proactive approach to deal with it, so that the state is fully prepared to face any situation. He said that the work of the under-construction makeshift hospitals should be completed in a time bound manner and necessary medical equipment should be installed in them.

Welcoming the Chief Minister on the occasion, Secretary Health Amitabh Awasthi informed him about the steps being taken by the department to stop the spread of corona virus.
