WTC Final pitch will have pace and bounce: Groundsman
Simon Lee, the chief groundsman of the Hampshire Bowl ground, said the pitch for the World Test Championship (WTC) final between India and New Zealand to be held here will have pace and bounce.
The WTC final match is to be played between India and New Zealand from June 18 to 22 here.
“Personally, I want pace, bounce and carry on the pitch,” Lee told Cricinfo. We are not able to do this most of the time in England’s weather but it is being feared that the weather will be right during this time. We are hopeful that this time we will be able to prepare pace and hard pitch.
He said, having the pace in the pitch makes Test cricket excited. I am a fan of cricket and want to create a pitch where everyone who loves cricket can enjoy every single ball.
“If there is a skill match between the bowler and the batsman, the maiden over will be exciting,” Lee said. If we keep pace and bounce in the pitch, it will be happy.
“As I said, the weather is expected to be fine,” he said. The pitch will be dry which will help the spinners as well. We want some runs to be scored and the match goes on for a long time.
