Himachal Pradesh / Solan : Direct Selling Center of Excellence launched by IDSA and Shoolini University

The ‘Center of Excellence for Direct Selling in Academics’ (CEDSA) jointly launched by Indian Direct Selling Association (IDSA) and Shoolini University will introduce one year PG Diploma in Direct Sales from the academic year 2021-22. CEDSA will be India’s first ‘Center of Excellence’ for direct selling.

The center was inaugurated by Govind Singh Thakur, Minister of Education, Government of Himachal Pradesh and Rajinder Garg, Minister of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Government of Himachal Pradesh.

Speaking at the function, Govind Thakur said that “It is very important to include such job oriented educational courses in the curriculum. By introducing direct selling into academia, students will be ensured to learn the nuances of business as well as research-based learning. “

IDSA Chairperson Rini Sanyal said, “The launch of CEDSA will open a new chapter in the direct selling ecosystem in the country and we hope that other educational institutions will also provide the necessary impetus to formal studies in the direct selling business. We believe that a holistic academic curriculum is required and CEDSA will act as a research incubator for direct selling in India.”

CEDSA, located at Shulini University, is only the second ‘Centre of Excellence’ globally dedicated to the Direct Selling business. The first is the US-based DSEF (Direct Selling Education Foundation) Center of Excellence. CEDSA is a global research center on direct selling as well as the Pekin University Research Center on Direct Selling (RCDS) in China.

With the introduction of CEDSA, IDSA has become the second direct selling association in the world to offer a Diploma in Direct Selling, after DSA of France.

Dr Kamal Kant Vashistha, Director- E-Learning at Shoolini University shared all the details of Post Graduate Diploma in Direct Selling being offered by CEDSA.
