Uttarakhand / Roorkee : The dumper fell into the pond due to road collapse

The dumper fell into the pond about 35 feet below the road near Solani bridge on Laksar-Roorkee road. The driver trapped in the dumper was pulled out by breaking the glass. On the accident, the dumper owner has given a complaint to the police against the NH officials and the contractor. NH (PWD) Dehradun is constructing Laksar Roorkee State Highway from the budget of Central Road Fund. Late on Wednesday night, a dumper laden with luggage of Laksar resident Kapil was going towards Landoura. After crossing the Solani bridge, as soon as the dumper reached the first culvert, the road collapsed and the driver, a resident of Rizwan, lost his balance with the Sultanpur dumper. The dumper fell into the pond below 35 feet. The driver’s cabin of the dumper got locked due to drowning in the water and Rizwan got stuck in it. The drivers of the second dumper coming from behind informed Kapil about the accident. After a while Kapil also reached the spot. After this Kapil’s car driver Wajid jumped into the pond. He pulled out Rizwan trapped in the dumper’s driver’s cabin by breaking the glass with an iron rod. NH employees who reached the spot on Thursday morning put up barricades around the broken culvert. On the other hand, the dumper owner has given a complaint to the police against six people, including three officials of NH and the owner of a private firm in Meerut, which is under construction. The police is investigating the matter. NH’s JE Lalit Chauhan says that the culvert is decades old. The dumper itself has fallen down by breaking its parfait.
