Tamil Nadu Premier League in July-August

Tamil Nadu Premier League will be organized in July-August. All matches of this 32-match tournament will be played in Chennai without spectators. The league’s organizer Tamil Nadu Cricket Association is hopeful of getting permission from the state government for the tournament and is planning to hold the league tentatively from July 19 to August 15.

The fifth edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League was canceled last year like many other tournaments due to the fear of Kovid. The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association has chosen Tirunelveli, Dindigul, Coimbatore and Salem to host the matches of the eight-team tournament but the final decision on these venues will be taken after consultation with the state government.

The decision to restart the Tamil Nadu Premier League was taken in April following a decision by the Supreme Council of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that allowed state associations to organize their own leagues on the condition that they withdraw from the Indian Premier League. Will not collide and will be bound by the rules of BCCI.

The Saurashtra, Karnataka, Mumbai and Tamil Nadu associations had sought permission but the Mumbai Cricket Association decided not to hold the tournament due to the second wave of COVID-19 in Maharashtra with no immediate information from the Saurashtra and Karnataka units.
